What started as a hope for an alternative school in Golden has become a movement to open one. A dedicated group of parents, educators and local residents have come together to create something new in Golden for our children.
After Front Range Waldorf School closed at the end of the 2009-2010 school year, a group of parents were left wondering what to do. Not satisfied with the existing public options in Golden and overwhelmed by the long term financial implications of other private schools in the Denver Metro area, a movement was started to open a new school. The first meeting was held in September of 2010 with far more than ex-Front Range Waldorf families and staff in attendance. The energy of the group was palpable, and it was clear that we had enough to forge ahead towards our goal of a new school in Golden. After a handful of meetings and lots of discussion, we are now intent on opening a charter school focused on arts integration and sustainable living, all wrapped up in a place-based experiential education package. We are inspired by Waldorf education, experiential learning, and an educational system that focuses on each student as a whole person. We are striving to create a school that fosters the love for learning in our children.
